Interview with Daniel Delgado, Intern
Amtex Precision has started a new high school internship program, and we are happy to introduce our interns. Dan is a senior in high school interested in welding and working with his hands. Here’s more about Dan.
Interviewer: So we’ll start off with your name and grade.
Daniel: My name’s Dan. I’m in 12th grade.
Interviewer: Can you tell me about yourself? Some hobbies or interests?
Daniel: I like trucks.
Interviewer: What about trucks do you like?
Daniel: Just the whole concept of trucks.
Interviewer: Have you had any previous jobs?
Daniel: Yes.
Interviewer: What else have you done?
Daniel: I have worked at a car wash, and a restaurant.
Interviewer: What made you decide to start taking classes here at JBH?
Daniel: Just the welding classes caught my attention.
Interviewer: Who told you about the classes?
Daniel: It was just they offered them.
Interviewer: And are you taking welding?
Daniel: Yes.
Interviewer: What do you enjoy most about manufacturing?
Daniel: Just getting to work with my hands.
Interviewer: When did you realize you had an interest in welding and manufacturing?
Daniel: Since I was 10, my uncles work for pipeline and all that stuff.
Interviewer: After high school, do you plan on going to a trade school or college?
Daniel: A trade school maybe.
Interviewer: What area of study?
Daniel: Safety or welding inspector.
Interviewer: What type of work do you see yourself doing?
Daniel: Pipeline.
Interviewer: And then what motivates you at work?
Daniel: Just getting finished and pay.
Interviewer: Okay. So your interest in trucks, are you going to use some of your manufacturing skills that you learn working with trucks also?
Daniel: Yeah.
Interviewer: What kind of things do you see yourself doing to trucks?
Daniel: Well, like I like drop trucks. You can’t go lower, like a certain inches before the differential in the frame start messing up. So you have to cut the frame and then weld it back.
Interviewer: Okay. So you’ve done that yet?
Daniel: No, not yet. Cause if I mess up, it’s bad.
Interviewer: All right. Well thank you.
Daniel: Thank you.
