Interview with Martin, Intern

Martin is a valuable member of our intern team. He is passionate about hobbies and projects that involve working with his hands, such as welding. Here is more information about Martin and what he has to bring to the table.

Interviewer: So we’re going to start off with your name and grade.

Martin: My name is Martin Dale Trump, and I’m a senior.

Interviewer: What can you tell me about yourself as far as hobbies and interests?

Martin: I’d say like anything that like you can do with your hands, like, you know, just making something. That’s why one of the reasons I like welding.

Interviewer: Have you had previous jobs?

Martin: Yes. Over the summers I work with this company APC, air pollution control.

Interviewer: What’d you do there?

Martin: Just running industrial duct work with dust collectors. So I was just a helper at that point.

Interviewer: What kind of things do you do with your hands for your hobbies?

Martin: Grinding down for knives or something like that, or keep sharp on skills. So just try to put something out there to make, you know.

Interviewer: So whenever you’re not at school, what kinds of things do you like to do?

Martin: I do play video games with my friends and then or go out with them. So that’s outside of school mostly.

Interviewer: What led you to enroll in the classes here at JBH?

Martin: I’d say I was interested cause my dad does a lot of stuff in the field too. So I knew a little like general stuff, and welding always seemed interesting to learn about it, see how it works.

Interviewer: So what does your dad do?

Martin: He works at APC also. He’s the general manager managing the Hatha duct go works and placement of the dust collectors and stuff like that.

Interviewer: So at what age did you get to start working with your dad?

Martin: Around 16, I think.

Interviewer: What do you enjoy most about manufacturing?

Martin: I think if you run into a problem, problem solving and thinking to get your way out of it. It’s satisfying to see that you did the thing that you did.

Interviewer: When did you realize that you had an interest in welding and manufacturing?

Martin: I’d say right when I took the class, I think was my sophomore year. I really, it just seemed, it did seem really interesting, the process of it working and how the machines work and all that.

Interviewer: After school, do you plan on enrolling in a trade school or college?

Martin: I’d say maybe a trade school or going straight to work after high school.

Interviewer: Well, if you do go to a trade school, what field would you want to study?

Martin: I’d say still welding would be my the field that I seem most interested in.

Interviewer: What type of work do you see yourself doing after school?

Martin: Maybe still welding or maybe electrical work. That always seems interesting too.

Interviewer: And what motivates you while you’re at work?

Martin: Maybe just to learn, learn something and just to like feel satisfied getting something done.
